Settle-Mintz! $1.9 Million for Accident Victim

Mintz & Geftic’s Bryan H. Mintz and Jeffrey E. Strauss recently settled a motor vehicle accident lawsuit at mediation for $1.9 million. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a 37-year-old woman who endured serious injuries when her car was hit by a commercial van in a rear-end collision.

Mintz & Geftic’s client initially suffered with extreme neck pain following the accident. She spent years with a diagnosis of possible displacement of the cervical disc and possible C5-6 disc compression on the left C6 nerve root.

After years of physical therapy, epidurals, and a nerve ablation, an x-ray revealed an instability in the C4-5 level of the spine requiring urgent surgery to fuse the vertebrae. Later, a spinal cord stimulator  (SCS) device was surgically implanted, which unfortunately became infected leading to yet another surgery to remove it.

Our client suffered extensive injuries. We are pleased that we were able to obtain significant compensation to assist her family as they deal with the strain that her injuries have placed on them physically, as well as economically and emotionally.
